Why are people so rude and mean

So I have been walking around watching people and how they treat people and I thought I would begin to let it be known that we as a society have lost our ability to be nice.  In fact, many people are more hateful, rude, and downright nasty and then use an excuse like they have to preserve their own rights and fight to get what they want.  So here in my blog I want to take an example every day of a mean rude person.  Maybe it will help each if to reflect on how we treat others and how we want to be treated.
